Just found these gems on my backup drive. Short story :
As 2 injectors were on its way out , the van randomly stopped. Looked around for the options , new injectors £350 each(ouch). Not to mention expect the other two going soon. So to be on the safe side 4x multiplier, re-manufactured £250, e-flea market £150 each but there was a twist. I have found a complete engine with only 65.000 miles on the clock from another seller.Bought immediately!
This has happened two years ago. And it is still in daily use! Question is why Japanese? Because as far is know the engine is an ISUZU. Which is an excellent workhorse.
Yes, it’s that! The “black death”. I don’t know why they call it that way, when it’s not really deadly at all. Just need a good trick and it can be off in a short matter of time. Do you know, how i did it? Put it in the comments.
I had to do the seal replacement on 2 injectors only. Yet. It has 125000 miles on the clock and still running nice. Somewhere i have seen an article where the owner takes them out regularly after certain miles and changes all the seals. Now that vehicle is over 500.000 miles. I’m not sure about that this is a good idea though.
After the diff came off i had to replace the seal as i have mentioned.
It is tight but it does not stop me :). So i just grabbed an old used brake disc off a vauxhall combo off my fleet. Drilled 2 holes as an extra.Got some A2 steel bolts and 2 pieces of metal bar off of a Hotpoint washing machine installation kit. With these and a huge torque wrench, i just got it off with a light jump on them. Use whatever you can find around as a tool. That’s what i learned at my granddad’s workshop. If you don’t have the right tool, make one!
There is nothing impossible, you just not trying hard enough 🙂
